Conference Overview

Please join us for HIV Research for Prevention 2016: AIDS Vaccine, Microbicide, and ARV-based Prevention Science (HIVR4P 2016), to be held 17–21 October 2016 at the Sheraton Grand Chicago, Chicago, USA.

HIVR4P is the world's only scientific meeting dedicated exclusively to the latest research on all forms of biomedical HIV prevention. Through both abstract and non-abstract-driven sessions, HIVR4P supports cross-fertilization among research on HIV vaccines, microbicides, PrEP, treatment as prevention, and other biomedical prevention approaches, while also providing a venue to discuss the research findings, questions, and priorities that are specific to each modality. We expect this cutting-edge, global conference to attract between 1,200 and 1,500 leaders in HIV prevention research, programs, and policy to Chicago.

Building on the successes of the inaugural HIVR4P 2014 conference in Cape Town, as well as past biennial microbicide and annual vaccine conferences, HIVR4P 2016 responds to a growing consensus that effective HIV prevention will require a combination of approaches. Viewing these together helps participants to identify the synergies between each approach and the challenges of implementing each most effectively—while also offering opportunities for insight and debate on the state of global HIV prevention efforts as a whole. HIVR4P provides a critically important venue for researchers, clinicians, private sector partners, advocates, policy makers, and public health experts in this dynamic and rapidly evolving field to grapple with the issues that will drive forward a comprehensive biomedical prevention research agenda.

HIVR4P can help to usher in a new, collaborative, and highly productive era in HIV prevention research. Please mark your calendar and plan to be with us in Chicago, 17–21 October 2016. We look forward to seeing you there!
